GALLOPING IN THE WIND
Compared to the focus of demonstrating the majestic muscle lines of horses in many other works, it was the flowing wind that kept occurring to Yi-Hsuan Lee while creating her work. The spreading and gathering of the solid and void space on the horse body make an exquisite balance between dynamic and static state, as if a path through which the wind blows from the horse’s spirited look and posture to its flowing mane, and arrives at the streamlined base.
In ancient times, the nomadic people viewed wind as invisible horses. As such, horses are just like the reification of wind, carrying unruly freedom and uninhibited mind that run thousands of miles.
