STEP SHAKE

Step Shake

It was an ancient women’s hair ornament, its shape had hanging tassels or beads. While walking, it would be swaying with the pace of steps. Step shake was a symbol of status. In early days, only the Queen Mother and the Queen could wear it, the folk were not allowed to wear it until the Tang Dynasty.

How charming did it look wearing the step shake? The poem “Everlasting Regret” written by Bai Ju-yi gave it the best answer: it read, “The flowerlike beauty with cloudlike hair-dressed was wearing gold step shake; In lotus-flower curtain, she spent the spring night blessed. The spring night was short, for the sun had risen high; From then on, the monarch held no longer morning court.”

Designer Yi-Hsuan Lee obtained the inspiration from the traditional hair ornaments. She retained the lines of tassels and hanging beads, and applied them to the chain necklace set, keeping the design classical but un-conservative, re-interpreting the beauty of the jewelry which stems from the imperial family.

Tsavorite

Tsavorite is a beautiful young face in the Gem stone world. Its brilliant saturated color with good clarity and brightness makes it a beautiful green gem stone, which is able to compare with emerald. Since found in 1967, it was produced only in Tanzania, Kenya, Madagascar, and Pakistan four origins. Its crystalline particles generally smaller, so three carats and up tsavorite is extremely rare, which is worth collecting.

In the garnet family, the tsavorite stone is classified as grossular green variety, whose color is caused by the vanadium. As its congenital inclusion is less, the crystal mostly shows translucent purity. After polishing, without heating or immersion oil treatment, the stone is with pleasing appearance.
