Gallop in the Wind

“I have always felt that the wind is like an invisible horse, while the horse is the tangible embodiment of wind—carrying with it a spirit of freedom and unrestrained grace.”

Unlike many Western sculptures that emphasize the powerful musculature of the horse, interdisciplinary artist Arista Lee is drawn instead to the movement of wind.

As the wind sweeps across the horse’s body, it lifts the flowing mane and gives the horse an effortless sense of freedom and composure. Gazing into the distance, the horse appears poised for its next burst of speed, ready to gallop freely toward the horizon.

Through the interplay of solid and void within the horse’s body, the sculpture creates a delicate balance between movement and stillness. The wind seems to travel through the horse’s spirited expression and posture, sweep through its flowing mane, and finally extend into the streamlined base—transforming something invisible into a form that can be seen and contemplated.
