In Eastern philosophy, calligraphy is more than an art form—it is an expression of the inner spirit. Through variations in the thickness, speed, and pressure of each brushstroke, the state of the artist’s mind at the moment of creation is revealed.

Having studied modern ink painting during her academic years, Arista Lee has been deeply inspired by Chinese calligraphy. In this pendant, she incorporates the brushwork embodied in the Chinese characters “藏鋒,” or Hidden Edge, combining returning strokes with deliberate pauses. The lines flow with a sense of effortless continuity, echoing the rhythm of a brush moving freely across paper. The design offers a fresh interpretation of jewelry aesthetics while embodying the understated wisdom of Eastern culture—the strength of holding one’s edge without revealing it.

At the center of the piece is an exceptional 11.35-carat lotus-colored tourmaline. Its outstanding clarity and masterful cutting allow the gemstone to display remarkable brilliance, earning a “Vibrant-brilliance” assessment from GUILD.
