Nocturne

Nocturne is a black pearl jewelry series with unique concept and beauty. The inspiration comes from the piano master Chopin’s “Nocturne Op.9, No.2”. While most jewelry designs follow organic outlines or geometric figures, this work exquisitely interprets the abstract musical experience with solid gemstones and precious metal.

It introduces the top level round black pearls, going with bright small diamonds. The glow of the mysterious green-bluish pearls and the sparkle of the diamonds mutually reflect on each other, as if it were the piano master Chopin’s “Nocturne”. The theme of the music leads people into unlimited meditation, occasionally interspersing with some trills to stir up people’s heart chords, leaving people a beautiful memory for the tranquil night.

Tahitian Pearl

The black-lip oysters (Pinctada margaritifera) are farmed in seawater, mainly produce in French Polynesia and the Cook Islands. Owing to their unique charming deep-dark bodycolor, they enjoy the international reputation in the name of “Black Pearl”.

The process of farming oyster is a long and arduous task. In addition to meet specific temperature and water condition, the oyster seedlings need to be cultivated for three years to carried out the first bead nucleus plant operation. After that, if the oysters are not to reject or die, then 18-24 months later the pearls can be first harvested. At this stage, the bead diameter is about 8-10 mm. Only 15-20% of oysters’ physique can load the second nucleus plant, the second implanted beads will be slightly larger than the previous ones, and then repeat the same breeding steps. The oysters which can weather multiple surgeries are rather rare, so the number of Tahitian pearls of and up 12 mm in diameter is sharply decreasing.

Only about 5% of Tahitian pearls have perfectly round shape, which simultaneously own excellent luster, clean surface, and pleasant overtone, are the highest grade.
