Story Behind the Work

The unique birds, originated in East Asia, are beautiful in shape. They have been regarded as mounts of immortals since ancient times. They are the symbols of the auspiciousness in the literature and painting works. In the Ming and Qing dynasties, they were used as the identification pattern of the official uniforms in the imperial courts.

The life of the red-crowned crane can last for 60 years long. The male and female follow each other for their whole lives. Therefore, they also have the meaning of longevity and loyalty in East Asian culture.

In the design of the earrings, two red-crowned cranes are dancing for each other. The rubies on the head are just like adding the finishing touch, which make the work more vivid.
